Location, Location, Location 

Lake Nipissing is located between the Ottawa River and Georgian Bay in the Canadian province of Ontario and with a surface area of almost 880 km sq is the fifth largest lake in Ontario. Lake Nipissing has many islands and hosts its largest population in the city of North Bay.

Because Lake Nipissing contains over 40 different fish species, it has slowly emerged as a major fishing attraction for tourists and fishermen alike from both sides of the Canadian and American border. Its most popular fish in Lake Nipissing is the Walleye, also called the Pickerel and there are numerous organizations in existence along the shores of the lake which engaged in special projects to enhance the natural population of the Walleye although there are numerous other fish species namely the pike, smallmouth bass, perch and the muskellunge all of which contribute to the allure of fishing at Lake Nipissing.

Angling Headquarters 

Lake Nipissing is considered the fishing mecca of Ontario with thousands flocking in every year to enjoy active winter ice fishing. The lake also has the full backing of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources which closely monitors fish populations and regulates catch and release guidelines.

Lake Nipissing has over 2000 ice fishing huts complete with stoves and bunks. Others have all the comforts and amenities of a home catering to ice fishermen who sometimes spend an entire weekend or more fishing.
