Rock and Largemouth Bass

Just like any other parts of Ontario, Northcentral Ontario is home to a lot of species of fish such as muskellunge and largemouth bass.  The lakes and other body of waters here are also abundant of the different species of trout.  Because of this, Northcentral Ontario has become a favorite fishing ground among avid fishermen all over Canada and the United States.

What Northcentral Ontario has to offer

In Northcentral Ontario, you can also find the cities of Thunder Bay and Nipigon.  Fishing is not the only thing that visitors can do in Northcentral Ontario as you can also visit the Sleeping Giant as well as the Kakabeka Falls in Thunder Bay.  In Nipigon, you have the Lake Nipigon to visit, which is a favorite spot because of its natural beauty like its beaches, cliffs and lake basin.  It was in 1916 that the biggest brook trout on record was caught here.

If you want to catch your own award-winning rock bass, then read on for some tips and advices.

Where to Fish in Northcentral Ontario

If you want the fishing adventure of a lifetime, then visit Northcentral Ontario.  There are a lot of lodges and cottages as well as resorts that you can lodge in this part of Ontario.  You have Adventure Camp Ohio located in Nipissing.  With enough patience, you might catch your biggest rock bass ever.  You do not even have to go far away as the dock, as from there, this kind of fish is abundant.  For more variety, you can go to Fish Bay and Gull Islands.

You also have the Blue Moon Retreat.  Not only is it a great fishing spot, but it also provides you with recreational activities such as playing tennis and swimming.  If you are the type who enjoys adventure, Blue Moon Retreat also has kayaking and canoeing for you as well as paddle boat riding and row boat riding.  This area is also known for its rock bass.

Catching Rock Bass

Remember, location matters if you want to catch a good-sized fish.  To catch a rock bass, you will need a lure such as a worm.  This kind of fish tends to swim in wooded areas so that is where you will cast your line.  You can also fish on this same spot for about 10 to 15 casts until you have to find another wooded area.  To get the fish, you will need a net to fish it out of the water. Not unlike the largemouth bass the rocky is a hard fighter that will head straight for the bottom after taking a bait.
